lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I congratulate the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights on its work defending human rights in American States and call on it to continue this work to guarantee human rights. I believe that we have to support regional human rights organisations and institutions because they are part of the international human rights system. At present the united support of the EU Member States and the EU institutions, as well as the European Parliament, is particularly important as the worrying news reaches us about the possible withdrawal of Venezuela from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. I would like to stress that, to my understanding, the Venezuelan Government’s decision to withdraw from this system would aggravate the human rights situation and I therefore call on and invite the leaders of Venezuela to keep Venezuela a member of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights."@en1
