lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, before anything else, I wish to thank Mr Gerbrandy for an excellent report, and, in the main, I definitely agree with what he has to say. I am especially pleased that the importance of recycling and the re-use of materials lies right at the heart of this report. If we look at the recycling of waste in Europe at present, there are still countries in which 100% of household waste ends up as landfill, and in that sense we in Europe all have a lot to do in this area. It is also excellent that the report devotes attention to the recycling of food waste. If we think about the food chain and its resource efficiency, this is a particularly crucial issue. Mr Gerbrandy’s report also highlights the role of renewable natural resources, such as forests, in resource efficiency. I would say that the use of forests, in particular, including the promotion of timber construction and wood products, is of major importance when we discuss the recycling of natural resources."@en1
