If this is to be achieved, then we need a coherent, holistic and integrated approach that provides for the active involvement of all stakeholders. The EU institutions will need to provide direction and coordination, while the Member States and local organisations will have to ensure that better road safety policies are implemented on our roads. We must welcome the proposal to create a European road safety coordinator who, with the Commission’s support, ought to act as a kind of liaison to ensure cooperation among the various levels. I voted in favour for these reasons."@en1
