lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, in your opening remarks you mentioned anniversaries. Before we gather again in Strasbourg there will be another anniversary. On 3 December, it will be 20 years since the Bhopal disaster in India. The death toll from that tragedy – more than 20 000 – is still rising at the rate of one every day. Over 120 000 people were injured, and the survivors and the children born since then are still suffering appalling injuries, symptoms and disabilities. However, for the last 13 years, Dow Chemicals – the American owners of the Union Carbide factory – have ignored a summons to face charges of culpable homicide in the Indian courts. Compensation has been pitiful, responsibility accepted negligible. I hope you, Mr President, and colleagues here in this Parliament will support all measures to get justice and real help for the victims."@en1
