Triples with object I voted in favour of amending MiFID II and MiFIR because it is clear that the significant IT infrastructure needed to implement these wide-ranging reforms will not be ready in time to meet the original 2017 deadline. It is therefore right that the competent authorities have another year in order to prepare. However, this is the one and only time that this legislation will be delayed. The reforms introduced by MiFID II and MiFIR are vital for stabilising our financial system following the crisis, and it is important that they come into effect as soon as they possibly can.
