Table for the 4 triples with object "Even though there has been an international moratorium on commercial whaling since 1982 to protect whales from extinction there is a very narrow exception for strict scientific research permits which Japan has been exploiting since this ban was brought in as a cover for its commercial whaling. In 2014 the International Court of Justice found that Japan was in breach of international law with regards to its use of these scientific permits. Japan halted its whaling briefly but has now resumed activity, most recently killing 333 minke whales, including pregnant females. This motion calls on Japan to cease its whaling activities, especially as there is no scientific research need to capture and kill that many whales. It was for these reasons that I voted in favour of the joint motion for resolution."@en sorted by label
