"I supported the rapporteur of this draft regulation that aims at contributing to the goal of a more efficient, interconnected and sustainable functioning of the TEN-T, by creating a framework which improves the performance of all ports and helps them to cope with changes in transport and logistics requirements. This regulation shall apply to all seaports listed in the Commission’s proposal for a Regulation on the Trans-European Transport Network Guidelines, while ensuring a balanced approach between legislative action and a soft approach as exemplified by the social dialogue. In Ireland, our commercial ports already fulfil the principles of this regulation as confirmed by the competition authority in their report of 2013. In addition, Irish ports already fulfil the financial transparency elements of the regulation."@en1
