"A Uachtaráin, bhí mé sa Pharlaimint ar maidin nuair a rinneadh díospóireacht ar an ábhar tábhachtach seo, agus bhí a lán pointí suimiúla á rá ag Feisirí.
I think everybody realises that, in the age of the internet, the laws have to be updated. In particular, we have to protect the rights of the artists and the creators. We must balance that with the need to have open access to the internet for people. We also have to be very conscious of the protection of schools and libraries, etc. I think that can be done with a balanced approach, and we will, hopefully, allow ourselves the freedom to get that eventually.
I was also very pleased that Commissioner Oettinger, in relation to panorama freedom, said that the talk of it being restricted was a phantom and that it will continue on the basis of national legislation, etc. That is an important point to reassure people.
Mr President, thank you. You did a fantastic job today. The voting was supposed to take two hours and you got it done in a little over an hour."@en1
