"The European Parliament insisted that the Globalisation Adjustment Fund should be continued for the next seven years, despite opposition from the Council of Ministers. That said, I am disappointed by the decrease in the overall budget, from 3.5 billion to 1.05 billion. Due to the European Parliament, the new EGF will also support new categories of workers in the event of them becoming redundant, such as those on fixed term contracts, temporary agency workers and the self-employed. This is a welcome development."@en1
