"The European Union has clearly learnt nothing from the crisis. It has already given a European passport to rating agencies, and now it is giving a European passport to auditing firms. The functioning of these private bodies has, however, proved to be completely inefficient. A credible audit is a public audit performed in accordance with standards developed by the elected representatives of the people. A joint audit, performed by two different bodies, is a guarantee of reliability. That should be the rule in Europe."@en1
