lpv:translated text	"The amendment I tabled along with Mr Dess and 77 other MEPs demands full compliance by agricultural imports with European health, social, and consumer, environmental and animal protection standards. It is, after all, extraordinary to demand that European farmers conform to the highest production standards in the world, while at the same time increasing the quantity of agricultural products that can enter Europe without meeting those same standards. Consumers must be able to benefit from a single level of protection, no matter what they buy, and farmers must be rewarded for their tremendous efforts, not subjected to unfair competition on the part of third countries. That is my idea of a balanced food and agriculture policy, anyway. This resolution sends a clear message to the Commission and to third countries, which is why I support it."@en1
