"I supported the resolution under discussion, because I also believe that the European Union’s current legislative framework on human trafficking has not been very efficient, and it has not been implemented sufficiently. We have to deal with this subject again and again.
It is regrettable that the importance of human trafficking has not been understood by 16 Member States’ parliaments, including, I have to say, my own country, and that they have not considered it necessary to ratify and adopt the Council’s 2005 convention on human trafficking. I hope that the resolution that we have adopted today will give a signal and remind them how important it is to concentrate on fighting human trafficking as well as to avoid any further victims."@en1
