"The ELDR Group voted against some of the amendments proposed by Mrs Angelilli and decided to abstain on the final vote since we believe that giving the EU the power to act in combating forms of crime transgresses the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality. Tackling cross-border crime together is essential. Indeed, internationally organised crime is one of the most serious challenges we face. Petty local crime and vandalism however, have no cross-border implications and do not require EU action."@en1
