"Mr President, for two years, MEPs in the Special Committee on Tax Rulings (TAXE) have kept themselves busy inventing a concrete aeroplane. Of course, nobody is in favour of tax fraud. But the Committee was hijacked by left wingers and Euro-federalists. In the EU, the legal practice of tax avoidance has become a synonym for illegal tax evasion. The more complicated you make tax, the worse it is for small business. Instead of simplifying, the EU is harmonising tax and abolishing competition between various jurisdictions. The Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base is just another part of the EU’s corporatist agenda to maintain the tax cartel between Europe’s socialist economies. Tax competition forces governments to be efficient, and saves taxpayers’ money. Fortunately, we will soon be out of this place and will be able to exercise due diligence in these matters ourselves."@en1
