"Mr President, my constituency has long been plagued by the scourge of terrorism. Successful attacks are now thankfully irregular and generally isolated. Nevertheless, we must maintain vigilance and remember the victims. The murderous campaign of the IRA left much hurt and devastation, many empty chairs. The people of Northern Ireland know and understand the need to stand firmly with our European neighbours against the scourge of terrorism. We must never allow terrorists to control the narrative, indulge their revisionism or glorify their deeds to radicalise a new generation. We have some in Northern Ireland who propagate such revisionism. They seek to revise history to justify their evil deeds. Instead, we must give victims a voice. They require protection, specialist support to respond to their specific needs. And as we assist victims, so too experience has taught us to guard against complacency."@en1
