lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I was pleased to vote in favour of this report on the challenges of implementing the Union Customs Code (UCC). The UCC builds on existing concepts to streamline the customs processes and procedures across the Customs Union, clarifying the rules on release for free circulation and on special procedures. Effective customs cooperation in the EU and with third countries is crucial, given the significant trade volumes and the challenges for the Customs Union since its creation. I welcome the report’s call for a timeline and for a clear strategy to ensure necessary elements are introduced for the EU customs systems. I also welcome the call on the Commission to rectify any legal shortcomings that may be hindering trade. The proper implementation of the UCC is important for the EU to function as one of the largest trading blocs in the world and I am sure that such strategic cooperation may be an aspect that, despite what my good friend Mr Hannan says, the British may regret when they leave the European Union."@en1
