lpv:spoken text	"As the committee which deals directly with citizens this report highlights the main activities of the Petitions Committee which are based on citizens’ petitions to the Parliament. The committee has the potential to reconnect institutions and EU citizens by directly involving them and assessing the impact of Community legislation on their everyday lives. Also outlined are other aspects such as relations with other EU institutions and national authorities; some obstacles in the treatment of petitions such as the Commission’s strict interpretation of Article 51 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights or the need for greater transparency on infringement procedures. The report also calls for improvements in the petitions web portal where citizens can upload their petitions."@en1
