"I voted against this report. There were some good aspects to the report, including the fact that it proposes incorporating human rights standards into trade agreements, is strong on LGBTI rights, acknowledges climate refugees and generally addresses gender issues in a positive way. There was also an annex which reiterated the resolution passed by the European Parliament last year on the continued detention without trial of Ibrahim Halawa.
However, the report also made statements about the development of a Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), including strengthening European military integration and making more use of readmission agreements. As Sinn Féin does not support these elements, I was forced to reject the text as a whole."@en1
