"The Commission's proposal for a new Port Services Regulation did not sufficiently recognise the complexity and diversity of the EU's port sector. However, after negotiation and campaigning since 2013, the European Parliament has managed to secure some limited improvements, including respecting employment and trade union rights. The continuing success of the UK ports industry is vital to the country and there are major challenges ahead in the light of the Brexit vote. Labour MEPs will continue to work actively to support our ports and all who work in them."@en1
