"I voted in favour of the proposal to reject the Council position, which was put forward by four political groups, as I do not believe that EU harmonisation of domestic passenger transport services is necessary. In particular, being a Member from the United Kingdom, I note that cross-border cooperation on such matters is extremely limited in scope and covers merely the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland (which is covered under the Good Friday Agreement) and the Channel Tunnel (which is covered by the Le Touquet Treaty). Therefore, this proposal is wholly unnecessary for the United Kingdom."@en1
