"Madam President, while it is understandable that much of the debate today was taken up with the unfortunate situation in Aleppo, and also the unacceptable developments in Turkey, at the same time it is important that we focus on what citizens in Europe want at this particular time in relation to their own lives, and that is jobs and growth. I welcome especially the success thus far of EFSI. I had the privilege of hosting a conference in Dublin last Friday, where Mr Cassoni from the Commission and the EIB Vice-President also came and spoke, and they are setting up an office in Dublin. This will help SMEs to benefit from financing, which will help them to grow and create jobs. We need that right across the European Union, because the European Union will stand or fall on the basis of what citizens think and how it affects their own lives."@en1
