"The creative economy across the UK employs nearly 3 million people and it has been one of the most resilient sectors during the economic crisis, indeed growing whilst other sectors shrank.
The report calls on the Commission to present an ambitious legislative package that deals with precarious contractual situations in the cultural and creative industries and will ensure respect for fundamental social and labour standards. The Commission is called on to act appropriately to reduce the value gap and ensure that authors, creators, performers and rights holders receive fair remuneration for their works. I therefore voted in favour of this report as I believe that that the EU could take a leading role in promoting the important positive impact that the creative sectors have across Europe, and promote policies that champion Europe’s most unique asset: its culture."@en1
