"Precarious working conditions and insecure forms of income are common practice in the creative industry sector, and that is why our House calls on the Commission to draw up an ambitious legislative package for artists and creative workers.
Sadly, women face the same barriers in these industries as in most others, which means a huge gender pay gap and an even bigger pension gap exist. Furthermore, there is a very high proportion of women who work in these industries, and more often than not they are declared as self-employed, facing serious challenges as mothers and working women.
Cultural and creative work requires the same commitment to fundamental social and labour standards on the part of the Commission and the Member States as in any other sectors, and this must also apply to negotiating mandates for trade agreements."@en1
