"Madam President, I am very glad that this report highlights the need to increase the participation of women in decision-making. I would also like to emphasize the importance of empowering women in conflict resolution and peace building in Ukraine. Women must take the lead in any post-conflict reconciliation mechanism that is set up. We need women and girls to be involved in building vibrant democratic civil societies across Eastern Partnership countries – women who are leaders and role models in the social, cultural and political spheres. So programmes like Erasmus+ and creative Europe can be key cultural diplomacy tools, fostering inter-cultural dialogue and civic engagement, bringing women and girls together for the benefit of their societies. When women are included and empowered, everyone benefits. I would particularly like to applaud the excellent work that has been done over the past five years through the tandem project, which serves as a best practice example for progressing democracy and building capacity through cultural exchange, led primarily by women."@en1
