"I voted in favour of this report which aims to amend the procedures on Commissioners’ declarations of interests which will necessitate a reform of the Commissioners’ Code of Conduct. Proposals include: an obligation to disclose all financial interests and not just those ‘likely to constitute a conflict of interest’; details of contractual relations, divestment requirements; disclosure of donations to any NGOs; regular reporting on the implementation of this code including any changes to declarations; rules in the case that Commissioners are ‘relocated’; and time frames for submission of declarations.
I also co-signed and voted in favour of the one amendment to this report, which called to extend Commissioners’ post-office employment restrictions to a period of at least three years without making any changes to the transitional rules. I am happy that this amendment was passed so that unethical appointments, such as that of Former President of the Commission José Manuel Barroso to Goldman Sachs, do not happen in the future without a proper cooling off period."@en1
