"I was happy to support the annual report on the activities of the European Ombudsman in 2015. The promotion of transparency is one of the three pillars of the Commission’s new trade strategy and as a member of the ITCO Intergroup (Intergroup on Integrity, Transparency, Corruption and Organised Crime) in the European Parliament, I think it is imperative that the institutions strive to uphold the ideals of transparency and integrity in all aspects of European policy. In that regard, the Ombudsman plays an important role in the functioning of the European Union and its institutions."@en1
