It was passed with a substantial majority, indicating the strength of feeling on this issue. The prospect of Turkey joining the EU was used as a scare tactic in the referendum campaign in Wales. This resolution shows clearly that the European Parliament will not allow any country that allows violations of human rights to continue negotiations. Communication channels remain open but progress will not be made on EU membership until there is progress in Turkey in the interests of its people."@en1
