"I join my colleagues in condemning and deploring the grave human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity currently taking place in Syria. My heart goes out to all those affected by the conflict, and all those humanitarian aid activists working on the ground in impossible conditions. I support the call in this resolution for the international community to do more to bring the perpetrators of these war crimes to justice. We must find the most adequate available means to do so at international level.
The EU and its Member States must do more to accommodate and welcome Syrian refugees fleeing from conflict. National governments must urgently implement EU decisions and legislation on refugees, including providing aid and support to those Member States most affected. We must engage in a more compassionate and tolerant conversation about how to meet our moral obligations towards human beings that are fleeing war and suffering. We must also pay particular attention to the dramatic situations faced by child migrants and refugees, especially unaccompanied minors. Children must be provided with adequate care and health (including mental health) services, and must be able to access education in their host countries."@en1
