"UKIP abstained on this non-legislative, non-binding, motion for a resolution. There are many aspects of the resolution which UKIP in principle could support and of course we want to further help those people who are deaf, blind, partially sighted and hard of hearing. However we cannot support the EU telling Member States what they should be doing or in any way give an excuse for action at EU level. The only people who should decide these things is our elected national government, not unaccountable EU institutions. As the resolution itself didn’t contain anything which called on the EU or the Commission to act, UKIP abstained"@en1
