"The ECR Group is firmly against EU ambitions for separate and duplicative defence structures that would not only be a dangerous distraction from the revitalisation of NATO but would also send confusing signals to our potential enemies. This is reflected in our votes against the Report on European Defence Union. We only voted in favour of paragraph 36 of the report because if its central message concerning the need for more national investment in defence and defence industrial capability. We do not agree with any language in this paragraph that supports CSDP or other such EU political ambitions."@en1
