"I voted in favour of this report, which I shadowed through the Agriculture Committee. This report takes stock of how reforms since 2013 have been working in terms of job creation in rural areas, and looks forward to a CAP post-2020. After consulting with various interested parties in my constituency, I tabled a number amendments that would sought to draw attention to the devastating impact austerity policies have had on the social fabric of rural areas. I was happy that the majority of my amendments were included in the final text, so that the final result was a progressive text. Of note are paragraphs on the skills migrant workers and refugees can bring to rural areas, the needs for more supports for women in farming, the need to bring more equality to the way CAP is distributed and the need to strengthen social security, services and infrastructure in rural areas to promote job growth."@en1
