"Yet again, this is an example of how the European Union supports people in its Member States to face the adverse effects of globalisation. Where workers in these heavy industries face redundancy, the EU provides financial assistance, expressing the core concept of European solidarity. Although UK workers have not benefited from Globalisation Adjustment Funds, this kind of protection from global markets is one of the marked benefits of membership in a large trading bloc, and this is one among the many reasons the UK must remain a member of the European single market in any future eventuality."@en1
