"I voted against this non-legislative and non-binding report. I do not support the European Council’s decision to lift all nuclear related sanctions again Iran. I voted in favour of Amendment 9 of the report calling for the immediate release of all political prisoners and others unjustly detained. The amendment calls for fair trials and due process standards to be upheld including access to a solicitor, access to doctors and an end to the systematic torture in prisons.
The Iranian Government needs to reform and engage positively with the International community to build mutual trust.
UKIP does not support the development of an EU foreign policy and such does not recognise the legitimacy of the EU to engage in diplomatic relations with Iran. UKIP rejects the notion that the Iranian nuclear deal was a ‘success for EU diplomacy’ and opposes its attempted use by the EU as a justification for the further development of an EU foreign policy."@en1
