"This is an ordinary legislative procedure, at second reading, for amending the existing regulation to update and simplify the existing legal framework for European statistics on rail transport, including increasing the collection of general statistics (not personal data) on the transport of goods and passengers by rail, and on rail safety. The changes include establishing appropriate cooperation agreements between the Commission and relevant entities. Data collection requirements are set out for Member States. This report is a technical part of the fourth railway package, which, as a whole, moves towards a single more competitive, liberalised railway sector, which Sinn Fein opposes. However, I am not opposed to the collection of statistics. I voted against the UKIP amendment to reject this report (only that amendment was put to the vote)."@en1
