"I voted against this report which would authorise the Council reopening negotiations with the European Parliament on the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Sinn Féin is opposed to the concept of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office as it would constitute a greater centralisation of judicial autonomy in the EU at the expense of Member States’ judicial structures. There remain serious concerns around the coordination, cost and management of the creation of an EPPO and its potential relationship with existing public prosecution offices. The resolution calls on Eurojust and EPPO to assume the trappings of a federal investigative force and calls for ‘sufficient investigative measures’ to be made available to the EPPO.
For these reasons, I voted against."@en1
