"Madam President, 80% of the world’s least developed countries are ACP nations. Trade is not the only solution, but is an essential part of the solution, for trade creates jobs; trade generates wealth which allows those countries to import, trade lifts people out of poverty, trade motivates entrepreneurs and trade leads to development. What we should be doing is breaking down tariffs and breaking down other barriers to trade. That is why I believe that this report is spectacularly missing the point, because it mentions trade really very little – really only at the end of the report. And it mentions it in the context of politicising that very trade. I believe that this report is completely missing the point of what we need to be doing."@en1
