"Mr President, while many are speaking tonight on Brexit, I would like to raise another issue relating to Britain. Between 2002 and 2010 it is known that the British Metropolitan Police sent undercover police to infiltrate democratic campaign groups in Ireland, the six counties, Scotland and Germany. Some of these undercover police incited violent actions at protests. Others testified under their aliases, leading to over 50 convictions being overturned in England and Wales.
More disturbing is the fact that some sexually exploited female activists and even fathered children. Despite Scotland, the North of Ireland and Germany rightly demanding answers from the British Metropolitan Police, Irish Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald is refusing to demand how many undercover police operated in Ireland, which organisations were targeted and who authorised their presence in Ireland.
Brexit will not excuse Theresa May from explaining what British undercover police were doing in Ireland. Their victims demand answers and Minister Fitzgerald should join her counterparts in demanding those answers."@en1
