I want to emphasise that we have one of the highest rejection rates for SME bank loan applications in Europe, and on that basis I welcome the views outlined by the rapporteur in this report. In particular, I note the approval of the non-banking finance recommendations that will provide alternatives to short-term financing options such as overdrafts, which often hinder sustainable development. Although banks are best positioned to provide tailored long-term financial assistance, the reality of the market necessitates an exploration of different means to meet financial needs. I think this initiative is timely and in the right direction, but I would also like to see further examination of the benefits of crowd-funding."@en1
