"At present, 16.8% of UK citizens are at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Therefore, I voted together with my EPLP colleagues in favour of a report that encourages Member States to adopt concrete employment policies aimed at ensuring an inclusive and integrated labour market and at addressing the severe impact of unemployment, thereby creating sustainable employment and ensuring decent working conditions including social protection.
Since being elected, I have consistently worked to include a gender equality and women’s rights perspective at the heart of policy-making on employment and women’s representation and access to labour markets. EU policies have continuously advanced gender equality for decades, and it is crucial that UK citizens continue to enjoy those benefits in years to come, despite the recent referendum vote which risks further progress in these matters."@en1
