"Thank you for your question; the answer is obvious, and I have referred to it. We have to establish a level playing field, we have to establish transparency, we have to have the same rules applying right across the European Union and globally, and that is what we’re trying to do. But we cannot, as the Commissioner is trying to do, apply these rules retroactively. That is a problem with this. Indeed, if we do establish a transparency and a fair corporation tax and tax reporting –which we want – then companies will stay in the European Union, but if we hound them like this they will leave. The British will be delighted to welcome them, as will Singapore, and the European Union, as well as Ireland and all the Member States, will suffer."@en1
