"I voted in favour of this report that urges Tunisia to go further in its political reforms such as abolishing discrimination based on gender, supporting the inclusion of young people and reforming penal law with a view to upholding fundamental freedoms such as freedom of expression. It further underlines economic development challenges facing Tunisia and welcomes steps taken to modernise and liberalise the economy. Importantly, the report includes Tunisia’s security challenges that spill over from Libya and encourages Tunisia to abolish the death penalty. Lastly, the report calls for a new visa policy (visa liberalisation) towards Tunisia and the opening up of safe and legal routes for migration to decrease irregular migration."@en1
