"A Uachtaráin, arís thugas tacaíocht don tuarascáil seo, curtha le chéile go healaíonta ag mo chomhghleacaí, Werner Langen. I think that putting in place a single market for electricity in the EU can bring significant benefits in terms of supply security and price, but it is important that we get it right. With the points outlined in this report, I think we are heading in the right direction and I look forward to the legislative proposals later in the year. A key point in these discussions will be the ways in which the new electricity market design can help us to meet our climate goals. The promotion of renewables will be crucial, and I think that any single market for electricity will need to ensure a favourable climate for investment in renewables and therefore send the right signals. Additionally, by ensuring that prices will reflect actual electricity supply and demand, we will allow for stronger price signals in the wholesale market and therefore encourage investment in new capacity and flexibility."@en1
