"I would defend the immunity and privileges of Rosario Crocetta. Considering the facts of the case, it is clear that the statements in question have direct and obvious connection with Mr Crocetta’s parliamentary activities. It is uncontested that, when he was a Member of the European Parliament and, in particular at the time of the statements in question, Mr Crocetta was very much involved, at a political level, in the fight against organised crime and its influence on politics and economy, especially as regards public procurement in the field of environmental policy. Therefore I support his immunity as a Member."@en1
