"Mr President, while I respect the outcome of the UK referendum I still believe that many people were not given adequate information, especially when it comes to energy. This week we are voting on two reports on EU guidelines for renewables. Meanwhile, data highlights the fact that the UK is failing to achieve our 2020 renewable targets. Post Brexit, the UK has a big decision to make: do we want to follow ambitious EU targets creating a strong economy and a safer environment for future generations, or do we want a race to the bottom and the scrapping of renewable targets to massage big business?
I call on the UK Government and our Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Clark, to clarify the Government’s position ahead of Brexit negotiations. What is it, Greg: a race to the bottom, or a future for our young people?"@en1
