"This report calls for swift and full integration of refugees into the labour market and for their social inclusion in accordance with the principle of equal treatment and non-discrimination. Along with my Labour colleagues I voted in favour of the report, which calls for a much-needed European approach to address key issues such as access to education and training, non-discrimination, health care, labour and social protection, and the recognition and validation of skills and qualifications.
Any approach, European or otherwise, needs to ensure that families are able to be reunified and that the situation of vulnerable groups (particularly those with disabilities, women and children, and especially unaccompanied children) is addressed. We must have a strategy which will restore and secure the human dignity of refugees: they must be allowed to gain economic independence and significantly contribute to their successful integration into the host societies. This report goes some way to address these issues and I can support it."@en1
