"Mr President, social inclusion and integration into the labour market are crucial aspects of immigration and, in the case of the European Union today, the integration of the great number of refugees we have seen come over the past few years, fleeing wars and atrocities. Integration is a challenge one way or another. We have to have our hearts open to those fleeing wars, but our national and European systems also need to be ready for a great number of refugees. This is the responsibility of both Member States and the EU. As Europeans, we cannot and will not turn our back on our moral and international legal obligation to those who need it. Professional integration is a major stepping stone towards social inclusion. It is a two-way street, and the effort needs to be made as well by those who are being integrated. First and foremost, it has to be a humanitarian but also sustainable approach to tackling the issue of increased migration, and in that regard I think that the European Commission, especially led by President Juncker, have done an awful lot to give leadership and to help solve this unprecedented problem."@en1
