"As a whole I abstained on this report. I believe that transparency is the cornerstone of any democratic society and a government´s actions should be accountable to its people. National security should not be invoked by a government with the primary aim of blocking public scrutiny. However I voted against the resolution naming the United Kingdom as ‘complicit’ in the CIA’s detention and interrogation programme. I do not agree and voted as such against the resolution calling for more ‘fact-finding missions’ to be organised by the European Parliament to the UK and other Member States named in this document."@en1
