"I voted against this report because I do not believe that further harmonisation of legislation is either necessary or desirable.
I wish to highlight my abstention on the original text of paragraph 106, which praises the principle of equal pay for equal work. I support that principle, of course. I do not support the addition of the text ‘as advocated by Juncker’ (why single out the political views of any individual in a Parliamentary report?), nor is it an important tool with which to fight market distortions; it is, in fact, an important tool with which to fight discrimination. So whilst supporting the sentiment of that paragraph, I cannot vote for the text as written."@en1
