"I voted in favour of this report which sets out a series of guidelines on energy transition in favour of consumers who have started to generate their own energy through, for instance, private wind turbines on farms or solar panels on houses. The report calls for transparent and fairer pricing and says that the transition should result in a more efficient, sustainable, stable, decentralised and inclusive energy system so that citizens, local actors and communities can be empowered to produce and distribute energy from renewable sources.
I was also happy to support this report as it calls for energy poverty to be addressed so that affordable energy becomes a basic social right. In light of the vast number of houses in Ireland currently struggling to pay various household-related taxes and charges, this was an important point. For these reasons, I voted in favour."@en1
