"I voted against this proposal which sought to relieve Sweden of its obligations in relation to the refugee relocation programme adopted in 2015. Although I recognise that Sweden has already done a lot to give refuge to those feeling danger, given the worsening situation in the Mediterranean, the worsening of conditions in detention/reception centres across Europe and the onset of summer, now is not the time for any nation to shirk its responsibilities to address the refugee crisis. Sinn Féin calls on all countries, including Ireland, to play their part in this crisis. For these reasons, I voted against the proposal."@en1
